What if I do not know how the fire started?
There are certain companies that specialize in fire investigation. While the city may have conducted an initial inspection, trying to decide who, what or how the fire started, these are generally short and cursory and insurers and insurance companies have a tendency to look for any vague language to deny any fire claim. Therefore, I would recommend talking to an attorney, and also talking to your own litigation tested fire inspection company to perform an audit and decide what caused the fire.
