How does alimony affect the calculation of child support in Florida?

Alimony is considered income and must be included in the parties’ income before child support is calculated. In general, alimony will lower the child support pay because it reduces the payers’ income. If you are receiving alimony and child support, the child support you receive will be lower because the alimony you also receive will increase your income, which tends to lower your child support.
