All oral contracts in Florida are valid. However, not all oral contracts are enforceable in a Florida court. In Florida, we have something called the statute of frauds. This was created as the title indicates to prevent fraud, to prevent one party lying about an oral contract existing when in fact it didn’t. The statute of frauds bars certain actions from being enforced without a written contract. The most notable is the sale of land.
