Can the condominium association pay a Board member for their services as a Board member?

That depends. Florida law provides for paying compensation to a Board member only if the governing documents for the association allow for it.

In practice, you don’t see that because there is an additional worry that if you’re getting paid, it might increase your liability for the decisions that you’re making. And most of the traditional governing documents don’t provide for it. But there is a provision in Florida that does allow it, and in rare cases, that can be allowed.
